Manager Information – Fall
The Humble Baseball Association Board would like to thank you for volunteering your time to manage a baseball team for the Fall season. We recognize the commitment you make in helping youth baseball in our area.
This information will assist managers in the activities of HBA, and what is involved to manage a HBA baseball team.
1. Manager must fill out registration and submit to HBA Board.
2. When given a team, Manager must attend league tryouts for player evaluation.
3. Manager must attend draft – and select his/her team.
4. Manager is expected to contact all team members, immediately, after draft and schedule team meeting for introductions.
5. Manager must assign Team Mom. (Team Mom responsible for raffle turn in, uniform pick up etc…)
6. Manager must pick up equipment. Manager must provide $250 check for equipment. HBA will not cash check. Check will be returned when equipment is returned after season.
7. Manager must schedule and communicate practice schedule for team.
8. Manager must distribute league schedule to team – when schedule is published.
9. Manager must schedule team parents and players to participate in HBA Work Day at game fields.
Please keep the following in mind – as Manager:
· Kids follow the direction of adults who surround them. Plan to set positive example at all times.
· Teach fundamentals of baseball, stress sportsmanship and the importance of teamwork.
· Communicate effectively with parents and players. Always recognize that a child is the most important thing in any parent life.
· Respect umpires. Coaches will make, on average, 30-35 decisions in a game. Some of these decisions will be wrong. Umpires will make 350-400 decisions in a game – and they too will get some wrong. Without umpires, HBA would not be able to provide a competitive baseball league.
· Make practices fun and interesting for the kids. They will look forward to practices – and become better players as well.
· Treat your parents and kids the way you would want to be treated.
And the most important thing a Manager can do is to ensure the team has fun. Make it fun for you, your coaches, your parents and most importantly the kids. Successful and effective managers have players come back the following season. That in itself is gratifying as a Manager.
Please remember, the HBA Board is available to help you in any way possible. We volunteer our time so the kids in our area have a safe place to play baseball – year after year.
Again, thank you for volunteering your time to help shape the lives of kids in our area.
Sincerely,
Humble Baseball Association Board
